Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming our Indian representative Umashankar Kumar from NDT Technologies in Mumbai. The visit was in connection with an exciting project involving the acceptance of a cutting-edge MT system for railway wheels. This equipment will play a crucial role in the future production monitoring at our end customer.
In addition to the MT system, the project also includes an ultrasonic testing system, which we have already presented in a previous article. This system is another important tool that contributes to the quality assurance of railway wheels. By using ultrasonic technology, material defects or structural irregularities can be detected that would not be visible to the naked eye. This allows potential weak points to be identified and rectified at an early stage.
KARL DEUTSCH is the only manufacturer in the world that develops and manufactures both ultrasonic inspection systems and MT systems in-house. With our technology, we make it possible to detect potential damage or cracks in railway wheels at an early stage. This ensures the safety of trains and minimises unplanned breakdowns. The aim of these systems is to improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of rail networks.
Currently, both the MT system and the ultrasonic testing system are on their way across the Indian Ocean to their destination. We are already looking forward to their arrival and the joint commissioning with our Indian partners.
This project is an outstanding example of cooperation and exchange of know-how between different countries. Such partnerships allow us to contribute together to a safer and more efficient infrastructure.
