Phased Array Instruments and Electronics
Phased array technology enables electronic manipulation of sound fields. For this purpose special probes with several transducers are used (usually 8, 16, 32, 64 or more transducers in different arrangements). Each element can be individually controlled by electronics via its own test channel. With the help of so-called Delay Laws, the elements are controlled individually one after the other, grouped sequentially or with a time delay. This results in sound fields that are able to operate simultaneously at different angles or are able to scan larger areas electronically.
